Back to normal life!
by C.Calvé on Mar.05, 2010
I came back home yesterday after a fun but disappointing Olympic games. Of course, we all thrive for the best of our abilities to be showcased at the most viewed event of our careers… Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to show what I can do on that day… Despite my frustrations and disappointment, I have a hard time being depressed about the games! Isn’t it already an accomplishment to reach the Games and aren’t they just an other world cup? I tend to perceive it that way… maybe I’d be signing a different tune if I had stood on the podium but none the less it makes me feel better about the hole thing…
Home at last, exhausted, a little bit feverish, but happy to be back after a long long month of travelling and building up for that event. Now, life goes on… less excitement in the air of course. We leave for Europe on Monday, 2 more World cups, thank god! I feel like I need to redeem myself! Will it matter? For me it will! Less people will be watching, caring but hey, I love my sport and that’s why I keep going. There will always be ups and downs in everything, the better ones of us are the ones that take less time to get back up from “downs”. I want to think I’m one of those people, I hope to be anyway…
Thanks again for all your encouraging words and thanks for all the support I had in my hometown of Aylmer!!! You guys were great and creative!
The Olympics coming!
by C.Calvé on Feb.07, 2010
It was official on last January 25th that I had qualified for the Olympic Games! Obviously, really exciting news!!!
I am now training out west in interior BC before we head to Vancouver for the opening ceremonies. I can’t wait! For me the opening ceremony will definitely make it feel more real… all this Olympic talk, I still can’t believe I’m going!
Thanks to all of you who have sent me messages!
Thanks for your support!
I hope to update more often from now on, talk soon!
ps: the picture was taken just a few days ago at Mount Bachelor, Oregon (USA) at a Noram (north american) race, a full canadian sweep, I placed first while teammates Kimi and Alexa placed 2nd and 3rd.

World Cup Season officially started
by C.Calvé on Oct.14, 2009
Hello Everyone! I haven’t written in a while…
Well lot’s has happen since my last post!
First off, I went to a training camp in western Canada at Farnham glacier 10 days after the camp in Mount-Hood. It was a pretty special experience since we stayed down in Panorama village and got helicoptered up to the glacier every morning back and forth! The reason for this being; it was cheaper for the organizing company to use helicopters then to set up camp at the base of the glacier like they had done in the past.
We had 5 days on snow. Unfortunately, the glacier was much smaller then in the past. Training was good none the less. The goal of that camp was to test our equipment further and although we had only 5 days on the glacier, we were able to pin point some of our issues with the new plates. (Between the board and the bindings)
After that camp, we came home for only 2 days before jumping on an other plain, this time to Europe. We are still in Europe at the moment.
Our trip started in Landgraaf, Holland on October 3rd. Of course, Holland has no mountains, therefore no snowboarding… but they have SnowWorld, an interior ski center. It’s like being in a big fridge! Our first World Cup of the season is always there. It’s a parallel SL.
Personally, I enjoy the run if only it could be outside! It’s fairly flat and obviously the snow conditions are always the same year after year. I like flat runs, I like looking for speed.
I finished 10th this year… which is ok… I would love to be on the podium there, it’s my kind of place, so I can’t hide my disappointment in my 10th position.
Moving on, we are now in Austria, in Solden. Austria is gorgeous! We arrived here on Saturday and haven’t been able to go up on the hill yet due to terrible winds and bad weather.
Hopefully tomorrow is better and we can go up! We’ve been tying to occupy ourselves. Today, we went to a climbing gym in Imst, it was rad! We had so much fun.
Well let’s all cross fingers for tomorrow!
Back on snow
by C.Calvé on Sep.02, 2009
I’m back on snow after 2 mon
ths at home. I think it’s a record time off snow since I’ve joined the National Team!
Some time at home was really great. Although I can’t say it was really “time off”… I was still training at the gym and lots of biking every day… even with the weather we had in Québec! Only got caught once in the rain.
We are now training at Mount-Hood in Oregon. We stay in Hood-River about 50 minutes drive from the hill. Living down here is great! Hood-River looks upon the Columbia river and with the view we have from our rented house, we can see all the gorge and its kiters and wind surfers. This town and it’s river, are renowned for all wind sports. I love it here!
This year, the warm weather throughout the summer has really affected the reserve of snow up on Mount-Hood. We are hoping the conditions of the snow won’t deteriorate to badly until we go home on September 8th.
Training has been going well. I have to admit, training here is not my favourite because of the particular snow conditions. The slope is a bit steep and often the snow, well frozen slush I should say, make it quite challenging. It’s part of the game of course!
Today, is our day off. The weather is gorgeous, I think I might go wind surfing if the wind picks up. Have a great day everyone.
Thanks for reading and letting me know what you think. All your comments are really appreciated!
Whistler Camp
by C.Calvé on Jun.20, 2009
It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything on the website… I thought I would update a little since I’m waiting to find out if training is cancelled this morning since it’s poor visibility on the hill here in Whistler…
So we are in Whistler for our 3rd training camp since the end of last season (we were just in Mammoth, Cal. 10 days ago). We’re here until the end of June.
Today would of been the first day up, but as we are waiting for the call on the visibility up there on the glacier, I just noticed it has started to pore rain! That’s too bad… I don’t know if we will be going up today.
It’s nice coming to Whistler. Every year we are here at this time of year, it’s also low season at the moment which I love.
It’s fun to see my friends that live here to. It’s rare i get to hang out with some friends other then my teammates when I’m at a training camp or on the road through winter.
I’ll try posting some pictures. Thanks for reading and have a great summer!

Season officially over!
by C.Calvé on Apr.07, 2009
The season is officially over after Canadian Nationals held at Mont-Tremblant, Qc. Finishing the season on a good note, a 2nd place finish is PGS. The snow conditions are rarely difficult like they were in Tremblant last week!
I’m glad the competitive season is over, I can now look forward to some on snow training starting next week already!
